The 2008 International ARCHIBUS Users' Conference lived up to its "Achieving Monumental Results" theme with another record attendance and equally impressive array of speakers and their accomplishments.
The Conference was noteworthy for its Federal Government Day, a concentration of presentations by representatives of federal agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service, Federal Aviation Administration, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Presenters from those agencies, and a host of other end-user/presenters took advantage of this unique, once-a-year forum to deliver case studies documenting sizable - if not monumental - gains in efficiency and cost savings at their organizations from ARCHIBUS deployments.
A special Center of Excellence Government session was held focusing on federal, state, and local issues with experts sharing their perspectives on GIS trends, environmental compliance, energy management, federal real property reporting, and strategic planning.
User testimonials were also plentiful and enthusiastic. View video excerpts from Italian banking giant Monte dei Paschi di Sienna, financial information services firm Metavante; the State of Missouri; Italian national railroad services group Ferservizi; the University of North Carolina - Charlotte; Time Warner - Turner Broadcasting; City of Hamilton, Ontario; NASA Parsons; and Portugal Telecom .
General Session presenters included ARCHIBUS Chief Technology Officer Steve Segarra, who explained building lifecycle cost efficiencies through BIM/TIFM integration, and the ARCHIBUS technology road map.
Joining him as general session speakers were Jack Dangermond, President of ESRI, the market leader in GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and ARCHIBUS President Bruce Forbes who touched on the business transformational power of GIS and TIFM integration in their talks.
And once again the gala dinner, this time at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, was the occasion to recognize this year's recipients of the 2008 ARCHIBUS Awards of Excellence, and an opportunity to network and relax.
We thank those who attended, as well as those who gave presentations, all of whom made this year's Conference a monumental achievement in its own right.
