EuroFM Conference Presentation: Belgiums Economic Agency Lowers FM Operating Costs 20% with ARCHIBUSARCHIBUS continues to extend its presence in government real estate and facilities management operations throughout the world, with one of the more recent examples coming from Belgium in a featured presentation given at the recent EuroFM Conference in Vienna. That presentation was given by Rudy Liekens, Facility Manager in Belgiums Federal Public Service (FPS) Economics agency. The agencys statistical analyses and other responsibilities inform government decisions on trade, employment, prices, and corporate registration/oversight, among other activities. Mr. Liekens gave the presentation jointly with Jos Duchamps, Managing Director of Procos Group, an ARCHIBUS Business Partner with offices in Belgium and Luxembourg. The team described their efforts in transforming the operations of a government department that comprises 20 large buildings and 147,000 square meters (approximately 1.5 million square feet) of space. Mr. Liekens streamlined his agencys operations through a major business process re-engineering project to better serve a complex, multi-level government structure. This was accomplished by centralizing the decisions on operating funds and staffing levels; and, of course, by managing to do more with less. From 2008 to 2010, for example, the facilities department lowered its operating costs by 20%. It also reduced by 7% its external contract and material costs, and is able to handle a ten-fold increase in work requests in that two-year period. Read more. Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts: Reduces FM Paper Use by 70% Achieving Productivity, Environmental GoalsThe Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) is one of the leading institutes of higher arts education in Asia. It provides professional education, training and research facilities in the performing arts, theatre and entertainment arts, film and television. After implementing ARCHIBUS, HKAPA is achieving significant savings in time and money using wireless – and paperless – work order management processes to streamline work order updates, work audits, and security patrol reporting. Using the ARCHIBUS Condition Assessment application, in combination with Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), the school has eliminated a large volume of paper-based job tickets, which required additional time to manually file reports on job status. Using less paper means having a smaller carbon footprint and is another step toward achieving the goals of the HKAPAs Green Program. Read how the school has transformed its operations here. |
