ARCHIBUS Community - Enabling Innovation and Change: Congratulations to Our Nexus 2017 Presenters and Attendees

In your presentations, in the panel discussions, and in your conversations over coffee, lunch, or dinner you all lived the concept of “Connect the Dots.” The theme resonated through the conference as old friendships were rekindled and new ones made as members of the ARCHIBUS global community of  users and business partners from the Americas, EMEA, and APAC came together over their shared passion for effective, efficient, and responsible stewardship of the built environment.

You engaged during the presentations, asked questions, discussed the presentations and shared your own challenges and innovations with each other. In so doing, you learned how to connect the dots with each other, in the data you manage, and within your organization through talking to your colleagues and learning from the experiences described by our many presenters.

ARCHIBUS CEO Wise Cho kicked off the event with a call to action to create new value for individuals and organizations and inspire thought leadership towards an economically and environmentally sustainable future through technology and stewardship of the built environment. He reaffirmed the belief that the ARCHIBUS community can be an agent of change to make life better for those who live and work in our built environment, concluding “People are the driving force of our community.”

On the main stage and in the breakout sessions, the user presentations resonated with this year's theme “Connect the Dots. Realize the Possibilities.” Each presentation provided powerful insights into the challenges RE/FM professionals face and the creative ways they have been solved using ARCHIBUS.

The Calgary Board of Education used ARCHIBUS to manage $489M in school construction and modernization and maximized space utilization to accommodate population growth, connect students to state of the art educational facilities and give students the room to learn. Progressive Casualty Insurance overcame their initial challenges to connect stakeholders across the organization, from finance to IT, to complete a stunningly successful ARCHIBUS deployment. The New York Department of Health and Mental Hygiene described how it creatively funded its implementation on a shoestring budget by connecting ARCHIBUS to its daily processes and to collaborative projects with other city agencies. The University of Worcester UK enabled its students to be stewards of the built environment, connecting them to the processes that maintain their dormitories by giving them the power to generate work requests. These are just a small sample of the truly exceptional presentations that users gave at Nexus 2017.

On the Nexus 2017 main stage, presenters shared a wealth of ARCHIBUS knowledge and wisdom with a truly global perspective. From leading smart city initiatives in Pittsburgh, PA or instituting intelligent property management in Beijing, China to managing millions of dollars of school construction in Calgary, Canada to educate a growing new generation, our presenters showed how they have used ARCHIBUS to connect the dots and create real value for their communities.
